Varanasi city was earlier known with named as Kashi so that is why it's called kashi vishwanath mandir. This Temple is one out of 12 jyotirlinga so that place hold significant value in Hinduism. The temple is located nearby ganga river bank called ghaat.
Kashi Vishwanath temple was constructed in the year 1780 by the Marathi emperor, Maharani Ahilyabai Holkar of the Indore.
This temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and number of people around all india visit here everyday. The varanasi city is mostly known as shiv ki nagri due to kashi vishwanath jyotirlinga temple.
The temple has 800 kg gold platted on its tower. This temple have very rich history as also mentioned in old Hindu holy scriptures. Inside premises there are other small temple also located like kaalbhairav, vishnu, Vinayaka and avimukteswara etc. Beat time to visit in temple is Shivaratri as this is the main festival of temple.
